Encirc Glass - Despatch Area Loading Bays

At Encirc’s Elton site, uncontrolled HGV drive-offs at loading bays were creating a serious safety risk for both drivers and on-site teams.

Clarity Safety was brought in to help reduce the risk of premature vehicle movement by improving control, visibility, and driver decision-making at critical loading points.

Who are Encirc Glass?

Encirc is one of the UK’s largest and most advanced glass manufacturing and bottling companies. Their Elton site operates at an enormous scale, running high-volume production lines, automated handling systems, and continuous 24/7 operations. With thousands of vehicle and pedestrian movements each day, maintaining clear safety standards is essential.

Encirc's Challenges

Encirc were facing several critical safety and operational issues across their HGV dispatch area:

1. Faded and damaged existing polymer barriers

2. No clear HGV reversing guide

3. Lack of pedestrian gates or controlled crossings

4. Need to redesign the canopy area for additional bay

5. Rising concern about HGV drive-offs

The Solution:

Over several months, we worked closely with Encirc’s H&S, Engineering, and Logistics teams. Through multiple site visits, layout revisions, and Teams meetings, we collaboratively designed a solution that genuinely solved their operational challenges.

High-durability polymer barriers

We replaced the old, faded A-SAFE system with long-lasting MPM polymer barriers that maintain colour outdoors, withstand impacts, and improve overall site aesthetics.

Defined reversing lanes for HGV drivers

The new layout provides a clear visual guide, making reversing into bays safer, easier, and more controlled.

Pedestrian safety gates and controlled access points

We implemented pedestrian gates and segregation points that require people to stop and check before entering vehicle zones — dramatically reducing risk.

Safer loading zones for FLT operators

FLT drivers now have protected working areas, allowing them to load vehicles confidently without fear of pedestrians walking behind or beside them.
