Unlike controlled internal routes, external crossings face additional challenges: - **High Traffic Flow** (Delivery trucks, FLT's and pedestrians all converge at the same point) - **Limited Visibility** (Blind spots and weather conditions or obstructed pedestrian walkways make it harder for drivers to see pedestrians) - **Human Error** (Drivers assume right of way, pedestrians take the shortest route to save time) ## **The Solution:** An automated pedestrian priority crossing      By designing a crossing that gives pedestrians the priority they need, whilst also bearing in mind the busy traffic flow through the crossing, you create an environment that is safe and efficient for everyone. Why does this work? - **Clear Priority** (Pedestrians are given safe, controlled passage - Just like a pelican crossing) - **Driver Compliance** (Barriers and traffic lights remove guesswork, making it impossible for drivers to ignore crossings.) - **Faster, safer flow** (Drivers only have to stop when necessary meaning no false stops.
