BFLEX Barrier Review: The Slim Polymer Solution for Warehouse Safety

Looking for a space-saving, impact-resistant alternative to traditional steel Armco-style barriers?

Let us introduce you to BFLEX: Clarity’s hybrid flexible barrier solution built to protect your site from forklifts, HGVs and other vehicle traffic, without eating into valuable working space.

At Clarity, we specialise in high-performance safety systems designed to keep your people, products and infrastructure protected.

Whether you're planning a full warehouse fit-out or simply reviewing current barrier layouts, BFLEX is one of several options we offer for flexible, high-impact protection.

What is BFLEX?

BFLEX is a modular, flexible barrier system made from highly impact-resistant polymer and built for demanding environments where heavy machinery operates.

It’s designed to work like a flexible Armco-style barrier, absorbing energy rather than transferring it and is available in two formats:

  • BFLEX/COM: Standard configuration for impact deflection

  • BFLEX/FRONT: Designed to absorb and resist frontal impacts

Both versions are suited for internal or external use, whether that’s along HGV bays, inside warehouses, or protecting key assets from forklift impact.

Key Benefits of the BFLEX Barrier

1. Minimal Footprint, Maximum Safety

Need a barrier but short on space? BFLEX has one of the slimmest profiles on the market. Even allowing for the recommended deflection zone, the total required footprint is just 240mm - perfect for tighter aisles or edge-of-path installations.

2. Low Cost Without Compromise

Fewer components mean lower cost, faster installation and easier maintenance. If you're comparing BFLEX vs Armco or even standard polymer rails like PED 150, BFLEX offers strong protection without the price tag.

3. Wider ‘Catchment’ Zone

The design of BFLEX gives you a wider catchment area (approx. 300mm), which reduces the risk of pallets or forks breaching into pedestrian zones - ideal in busy forklift environments where floor-level protection matters.

4. Modular Design for Layout Flexibility

Need to reconfigure your site layout in future? BFLEX barriers can be shortened, extended, or have corners added without the need for entirely new systems. They're ideal for growing businesses with evolving warehouse spaces.

Are There Any Drawbacks?

Like every safety product, BFLEX may not be the best fit for every use case.

  • Not a pedestrian handrail: If you're after handrail functionality or integrated pedestrian gates, a barrier like PED 150 will be better suited.

  • Bolt-together design: Unlike click-fit pedestrian barriers, BFLEX uses a bolted construction. Still quick, but not as rapid to install as our other systems.

  • Heavy-duty only: BFLEX is purpose-built to withstand impacts from FLTs and vehicles. It’s not designed for low-traffic or light pedestrian applications.

Is BFLEX Right for Your Warehouse?

BFLEX is the go-to choice if you’re working in:

  • Tight warehouse or logistics spaces

  • Facilities with frequent or high-speed forklift movement

  • Mixed-use yards requiring external and internal protection

  • Sites where you need long-term durability but want to avoid costly Armco repairs

If you're prioritising slim design and heavy-duty impact resistance — BFLEX could be exactly what you're looking for. If you need full pedestrian guidance, visibility lines, or gated access, we recommend exploring our full MPM barrier range.
