Schneider Electric - Full site Barrier & VM Transformation

Schneider Electric’s new Scarborough facility required a pedestrian segregation solution aligned with group best practice from another site.

The team needed high-impact-rated barriers in a custom RAL 9003 finish, alongside clearly defined crossings, SIM zones, and structured signage.

Who are Schneider electric?

Schneider Electric is a global leader in energy management and industrial automation, operating advanced manufacturing facilities worldwide.

As part of the development of a new UK site in Scarborough, the team sought to implement pedestrian and vehicle segregation systems aligned with best practice already established at another Schneider Electric facility.

Consistency, compliance, and engineered safety standards were key drivers from the outset.

Schneider's Challenges

During early discussions, the Scarborough team identified the need for the following:

   1. Replicating a proven group-standard barrier design from another Schneider site

   2. Achieving a minimum 8,200 joule impact rating (3.2 tonnes at 5mph)

   3. Improving crossing visibility using floor marking systems

   4. Creating structured SIM (Safety Improvement Meeting) zones to support operational communication

   5. Enhancing wayfinding through clear wall-mounted and suspended signage

The project required coordination across operational, engineering, and HSE leadership, ensuring all elements aligned with both performance requirements and visual standards.

Custom Safety Improvement Meeting station in production area
Safety communication station installed in manufacturing environment
New-build industrial facility with integrated pedestrian safety systems
Custom white warehouse safety barriers for pedestrian and forklift segregation
Industrial walkway protection barrier for MHE traffic control
Industrial floor marking tape defining forklift and pedestrian routes
High-visibility pedestrian crossing within segregation barrier run
White polymer safety barrier system matching corporate site standards
Safety communication station installed in manufacturing environment
Hanging industrial wayfinding sign in manufacturing facility

The Solution:

Clarity Safety provided a fully integrated segregation and visual management package tailored to Schneider Electric’s site standards.

The solution included:

   1. Custom RAL 9003 Polymer Barriers

Custom white finish Polymer Barrier to mirror best practice from another Schneider site

   2. Pedestrian Crossings

Clear floor tape delineation between pedestrian and MHE routes

   3. Custom SIM Zone Stations

Structured meeting stations to centralise communication and operational updates

   4. Signage & Hanging Wayfinding

Improved navigation & wayfinding  across the new facility

The final design ensured both functional protection and visual consistency across the site.
